Cyclocross is cool I guess but the Rás Tailteann is where it’s at. You probably don’t know it but it’s your favorite racer’s favorite racer’s favorite race.
Thanks for calling my attention to this race. I looked it up on Wikipedia and for some unfathomable reason the photo they chose to exemplify the race was of the 1963 winner Zbigniew Głowaty of Poland.
The only football game I watched this year was the Super Bowl because it was free on Tubi. My discretionary sports viewing budget is all spent on bike races. How hip is that?
Man, I love your writing. Keep it coming! How hipster is it to say you don’t have a favorite race? The 3 GTs coincide nicely with the arc of summer. May: Giro, hope, finally nice out, new life. July: Tour, peak summer, peak performance, hot as fuck. Late August: Vuelta, relaxed, basking in the orange-brown afterglow of a good season and a race where all terrain also orange-brown. Then the race of the falling leaves as the cherry on top.

Which is to say I think your hipster journey is spot on though cyclocross probably pops up more often like Le Tour.

Giro d'Italia is my favorite grand tour because as an American it's the only one where I get to hear the commentary team of Rob Hatch and Sean Kelly
