Betteridge’s Law of Headlines says no to the question posed in the dek, but once again, we had a major event in which the women’s race far outshined the men’s.

Is it a major structural problem? I would say no. It just so happened that there are two dominant riders out there—Mathieu van der Poel for the northern classics, Tadej Pogačar for everything else—and almost everyone who’s capable of keeping them honest is currently rehabbing from a broken collarbone or ribs or sternum or what have you. Some great percentage of winning is showing up.
